Johnny Depp Fans Rubbing Selves with Glee

"Pirates of the Caribbean" made just over $55M in ticket sales its opening night, setting box-office records all over the place.

Am I missing something about this movie? I don't get it. Seriously. The first one was OK, but it's not like I was clamoring for a sequel or anything.

Who knew pirates were SO HOT right now?

It's a pirate and a ship and...I just don't get it.

Hasn't this been done before?

Exactly. It's a movie. About a ride. At Disneyland.

A coworker of mine just saw it over the weekend, and he wouldn't even recommend adding it to your Netflix queue once it's available.

I thought the first one was decent, at least much better than I had expected.

But the hype over Part 2 does seem a little inexplicable, don't it?

I can't wait until they come out with It's a Small World. That is going to be one terrifying movie.

I got the first one on Netflix and watched it, and it was enjoyable, but really, you're right, I could have lived my whole life without a sequel and lived a happy one.

But what the 55million REALLY means is that that studios will crank out even MORE sequels of so-so movies over and over and over again and NOT put out movies that actually make one think, or are orginial, or are anything out of the "tried and true" formula....

BLECH.
