And now ... a blogging tangent

So I'm thinking of switching to Haloscan to manage my comments.

You know. Because I get so many.

But I have questions, and unlike The Decider in Chief, I'm not afraid to ask them. And here's where I look to you, Dear Reader, for input.

Feel free to geek out on me as necessary. Here we go:
  1. Why would I want to choose Haloscan for comments rather than Blogger's thingy?
  2. Is it hard to install or whatever?
  3. Am I going to lose the few remaining Blogger comments that I do have if I make the switch and stuff?
  4. Is there anything else I need to know before committing to this?

Thanks ever so. Love ya, mean it.

There is so much less hoo-ha when people have Haloscan comments. It's easier for the commentor. You won't necessarily 'lose' the comments you have with blogger, but your viewers most likely won't be able to see them anymore. Depending on your template. I did it when I had my main blog on blogger and it was relatively painless. Good luck!

I use it, but in all honesty, I don't remember why I made the switch.

I was considering swtiching as well, but my questions and concerns about it run pretty much along the lines of yours. So, what I shall do is allow you to go through the first, and if everything works out, then I'll do it myself too.

Oh, yeah, I'm a coward, you betcha. But as they say, ladies first. :)

I am curious as to what the point is in switching to haloscan? (not knocking haloscan) It seems like a little effort for nothing. Unless there is some serious issue that I have missed somewhere?

I'm with you, CT man. I'm abandoning the idea of making the Haloscan switch. I just can't be bothered.

I hate, hate, hate Blogger comments. I switched to HaloScan and never looked back. HaloScan makes it much easier to manage comments (especially if you go for the paid HaloScan, which is $12.95/year); every now and then, somebody comments on an old post of mine, and I would totally miss it if I didn't have HaloScan to keep track of things. The spam filter is pretty good, so you can dispense with that wretched verification thing that never works the first time and sometimes doesn't work the first three times you try to post a comment. Also, I just think it looks better.
